Netanyahu has done Muslims a great favor!
It may sound strange, but my view is a little different. I want Netanyahu to stay in power a while longer, even for his party to win the election. Because through his own oppression, arrogance and pride, he himself has exposed the true face of Israel before the world.
Whether the history of the leaders of Bani Israel has seen a ruler as vile as Netanyahu is for historians to judge. But there is no denying that his government's actions in Palestine have profoundly changed how people around the world view Israel.
Whether on the stage of the United Nations or at any international forum, the anger I felt watching Netanyahu speak is hard to put into words. His conduct has shaken the conscience of countless people around the world, just as it shook mine. The more the oppression of the Palestinian people came to light, the louder the protests against Israeli policy grew across the globe.
That is why I do not wish to see his swift downfall. For the more an oppressor is blinded by the arrogance of power, the more he himself builds the means of his own ruin. If his political success makes him even more arrogant, that very arrogance will one day bring about the fall of both him and his system of oppression.
The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him), said:
«إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُمْلِي لِلظَّالِمِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذَهُ لَمْ يُفْلِتْهُ»
Meaning: Indeed, Allah gives respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not let him escape.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 4686)
After narrating this hadith, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) recited:
﴿وَكَذَلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَى وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ﴾
Meaning: Such is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are doing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe.
(Surah Hud, 11:102)
Holding power does not mean the oppressor has succeeded. Being granted respite does not mean being set free. Often, in the very act of spreading his oppression, the oppressor paves the road to his own downfall.
May Allah help the oppressed people of Palestine, lift the oppression from them, and bring every oppressor in the world to justice. Ameen.
